About the Seed Oil Free Alliance
The Seed Oil Free Alliance advocates and advances the availability of seed oil-free food options. We empower consumer choice with our certification program, uphold ingredient integrity with rigorous laboratory testing, and provide evidence-based education to the public.
How It All Began
As health-conscious consumers increasingly seek to reduce or eliminate seed oils, going seed oil-free remains a challenge for both consumers and companies. We asked: What if there were a trustworthy seal on product packaging, backed by independent lab testing, that could guide people toward truly seed oil-free options?

The Birth of the Seed Oil Free Alliance
In 2023, Jonathan Rubin and Corey Nelson co-founded the Seed Oil Free Alliance to raise awareness, improve transparency, and educate consumers about the prevalence of seed oils in our food supply. Their journey started with a mission to empower companies and consumers by certifying products that are free from common seed oils.
Why We Exist
The Seed Oil Free Alliance bridges the gap between health-conscious consumers and companies offering innovative seed oil-free products. Seed oils, which now contribute up to 30% of the average American’s caloric intake, were introduced in the early 20th century and have since become pervasive in food products. We strive to help consumers make informed decisions and support companies dedicated to offering healthier alternatives.
What We Do
As a third-party certifying body, the Seed Oil Free Alliance licenses the trademarked Seed Oil Free Certified seal to qualifying food brands and food service companies. Through rigorous, independent lab testing, we ensure that consumers can trust the products they choose are genuinely seed oil-free. We also provide ongoing education to help both consumers and businesses understand the impacts of seed oil consumption.
Who We Are
Our mission-driven team includes experts on health, wellness, nutrition, and the food industry. We stand for public health, ingredient integrity, and transparency around the oils and fats in our food supply. Our belief is simple: Consumers deserve the ability to make healthier choices.
